About me
Roberto Masiero spent most of his career in International Data Corporation, the leading Worldwide ICT Market Research Company, where in the last two years he held the position of President - IDC International. In this capacity he was acting as the high-level executive contact for IDC’s worldwide customers, leading IDC WW Conference business and managing IDC’s Government relations. A long-term IT industry veteran, Roberto joined IDC in 1986 after holding various Sales, Marketing and Strategies positions in Xerox and the Olivetti Group. After becoming MD of IDC Italy, IDC UK, IDC France and IDC Germany, he was appointed President of IDC EMEA, responsible for 450 employees and 32 local offices. Roberto was also responsible for starting up the new IDC Conference Business line, which contributed in making IDC a global leader in the IT event business with more than 300 conferences reaching 45,000 users every year. In the last few years Roberto Masiero focused on the themes of Innovation, Government and digital citizenship, and Emerging Markets. He retired from IDC on September 30, 2009. On November 30, 2009 he announced the foundation of “The Innovation Group”, a Management Consulting Boutique that will focus on innovating business and organizations through ICT. He is also working on establishing THINK!, an International Foundation for IT and Development - an independent, non-profit think tank to identify, formulate and promote public policies to advance technological innovation and productivity and to help policy makers to better understand the nature of the new innovation economy and the types of public policies needed to drive innovation, productivity and broad-based prosperity locally and internationally. Roberto graduated with a degree in Political Economics from Bocconi University in Milan. He also attended the Advanced Financial Management Program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau and the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School. Roberto is presently writing a book on “Digital technologies and human development”, summarizing the best success stories that he experienced in implementing ICT to improve productivity and quality of life both, in Mature and Emerging markets.
